The Miss Universe pageant no longer has an upper age limit. Any woman above the age of 18 can participate in the Miss Universe pageant. Since the inception of the Miss Universe pageant in 1952, the age range of contestants has been limited to 18 to 28 years.
Also restrictions on married, divorced and pregnant contestants were removed. But R Boney, now 29, set a new record as the oldest contestant to be crowned Miss Universe when she won the 2022 pageant.
The changes come after Annie Jakrajutathip, a prominent Thai media mogul and transgender rights activist, took over the Miss Universe organization. Annie Jakrajuthathip bought the Miss Universe organization for $20 million.
