10 percent of people in Southern Cyprus are illiterate

It was stated that the rate of illiteracy in Southern Cyprus is 10 percent.

The issue was brought up at the session of the Greek Parliament Public Expenditures Control Committee, where education expenditures were discussed.

In the news published on “Alpha News” and some other news sites, it was reported that the Greek Cypriot Court of Accounts’ report on education expenditures was discussed at the meeting of the Greek Parliament Public Expenditures Control Committee on Wednesday.

According to the news, Committee Chairman Zaharias Kulias, who made a statement after the meeting, stated that it was stated at the meeting that the rate of illiteracy was 10 percent and emphasized that although the taxes transferred to education by Greek taxpayers were very high, they could not achieve the desired results in education.

Kulias added that the next meeting will be held with the participation of the Greek Cypriot Minister of Education.
