NEW YORK — A man was fatally stabbed outside his Bronx apartment complex Tuesday night, according to New York City Police.
The incident took place in front of a building located at 125 228th Street, around 6 pm in the Marble Hill sector of the Bronx.
The victim was identified as Juan Martínez, 44, who was in front of the building with his mother and 5-year-old niece. Martínez was found at the scene by officers, with several stab wounds throughout his body.
“I have no words to define a senseless crime,” said Elena Tejada, the victim’s aunt.
On Wednesday, Martínez’s family gathered at his apartment to mourn the loss of their loved one.
“It was an injustice, they killed my son in front of his mother and my granddaughter,” said George Laboy, the victim’s father. “No mother has to see something like that, not even my 5-year-old granddaughter. That girl is traumatized.”
Martinez was then taken to New York-Presbyterian Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
According to the victim’s relatives, the suspects are a man and a woman.
At this time this investigation remains active and no arrests have been reported.
