Insomniac has already shown quite a bit of gameplay from Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, but those sequences have mostly been the more linear story missions. Now it’s time to see and learn a lot more about the open world.
The gameplay presentation below shows how the inclusion of Brooklyn and Queens not only almost doubles the area we can explore, but also gives New York more variety. Variety actually seems to be a big focus in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, as Bryan Intihar goes on to highlight that there are far more different side activities scattered around the city, some of which can only be done by either Peter or Miles.
Of course, being able to switch seamlessly between them will also change the experience. Both have upgraded their outfits and learned new skills since we last played as them. One of the first things we saw were Peter’s new symbiote powers, but today’s trailer gives us a taste of what he can do with Spider-Arms. Meanwhile, Miles has taken his venom powers to a new level, so there will be plenty of options to choose from when upgrading the two heroes.
Speaking of options, Intihar reveals that there will be 65 costumes in the main game (with an additional 10 available to those who purchase the Deluxe Edition). But it does not stop there. Some of the suits can also be customized thanks to the new Suit Styles feature that allows you to change the colors to your liking.
