“The child bonus hasn’t been paid out to date, why?”, “I still haven’t received the money, when will it come?” – Inquiries of this kind are currently reaching the 5 Minutes editorial team again and again. Families have been waiting for months for the 60 euro bonus for low-income households with children. Actually, the monthly 60 euros should have been paid out from July. About two weeks ago it was finally announced that the “children’s bonus” would be paid out retroactively from September – meaning that low-income families are now entitled to 180 euros. So far, hardly anyone has the money in their account.
When will the money finally come?
The families are currently sitting on hot coals and are eagerly awaiting the money. But why is the payment delayed? How “Finanz.at” exclusively reported, the individual federal states are responsible for paying out the monthly 60 euro bonus. But now the states were again waiting for the decree from the Ministry of Social Affairs. When asked by “Finanz.at”, the state of Carinthia announced that the decree was received on August 25th. The payments to the Carinthian families are being delayed somewhat: Next week, from September 18th, the first amounts are due to be credited to the accounts. All payments should finally have been processed by the end of September. So some patience is still required.
Everything about the bonus
Until the end of 2024, many people in Austria will receive 60 euros per child per month – a total of over 1,000 euros per child. Those entitled to benefits include those people who receive unemployment benefit, emergency assistance, social assistance and a compensatory allowance. Single earners who earn less than 2,000 euros gross per month also receive the money per child – even if they do not receive any of the benefits. If you receive social assistance, you will also receive the money – but “only” until the end of 2023.
