MUNICH Bavaria’s Economics and Energy Minister Hubert Aiwanger has renewed his calls for the federal government to finally take measures to cushion the negative effects of the energy transition on the Bavarian economy. According to a survey by the Bavarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (BIHK), almost half of the companies in the Free State (47 percent) expect the energy transition to have negative or severely negative effects on their business. Only 14 percent of those surveyed expect positive effects.
Aiwanger: “The federal government is leaving our economy out in the cold. Berlin is doing nothing to support companies in these difficult times with high energy costs, the resulting disadvantages in international competition and production cuts. I have long been calling for a low commercial electricity price of 4 cents net per kilowatt hour, a reduction in corporate taxes to a maximum of 25 percent and an acceleration of the development of the hydrogen economy throughout Germany. The federal government must finally act now, otherwise it will drive the economy into the wall.”
