On October 2, 2022, a charred body was discovered in the heights of Chiconi. The investigation, still ongoing, has led to several arrests. From this investigation, the gendarmes of the research section moved forward with another murder investigation. That of a young man, the body was discovered in March 2018 at Sohoa beach.
This Tuesday, September 12, the gendarmes of the search section made a notable raid, in the morning, in Chiconi. Four men were arrested as part of the investigation linked to this still unsolved murder in March 2018, which occurred at the height of the movements against insecurity. The body of a young man from Barakani was found naked, bound and gagged at Sohoa beach but the investigation remained at a standstill.
Investigations were able to resume recently because people, interviewed in the context of the case of the charred body found in Ampadza, allegedly gave new information to investigators.
Shock in the village of Chiconi where the arrests followed one another, they were experienced as judicial harassment in the village. Calls for gatherings have also been launched.
More than a dozen people were arrested as part of the investigation into the charred body. Most of them are still in pre-trial detention, including the main accused. Others have been released but are not out of the woods yet.
