The Inauguration of the 250-Meter Multipurpose Pedestrian Bridge in Jakarta: A New Icon for the Capital City

KOMPAS.com- The new icon of the Capital City, the 250 meter long Multipurpose Pedestrian Bridge (JPM) in Dukuh Atas, Sudirman was inaugurated on Wednesday (13/9/2023).

The inauguration of JPM was attended directly by the Minister of Transportation (Menhub) of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) Budi Karya Sumadi and the Acting (Pj) Governor of the Special Capital Region (DKI) Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono.

The main contractor for the 250 meter JPM construction project is PT Waskita Beton Precast Tbk (WSBP). Apart from that, this state-owned company also took part in the revitalization of the Sudirman Commuterline Station which is managed by the Waskita Vision First Operational Cooperation (KSO).

WSBP’s main contribution to the two projects above includes licensing, detailed engineering design, construction services, installation, structure, architecture, and electrical mechanical.

WSBP Vice President of Corporate Secretary Fandy Dewanto said that his party was proud to be able to contribute to improving public transportation infrastructure in Jakarta.

“This is WSBP’s commitment to support the government’s infrastructure development program,” said Fandy Dewanto in a press release received by Kompas.com, Wednesday (13/9/2023).

Fandy said that this project is the first transit-oriented development in Jakarta with a contract value of IDR 167.1 billion.

“This project connects the Dukuh Atas area, Central Jakarta with the Jabodebek Light Rail Transit (LRT), Indonesian Railways (KAI) Commuter Line, and Jakarta Transportation (Transjakarta),” he explained.

In these projects, WSBP uses prefabricated construction materials, such as PCI girders and segmental steel bridges. The implementation was carried out briefly without disturbing community activities in Dukuh Atas, which is the heart of the capital’s economy.

For information, apart from the Minister of Transportation and the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta, the JPM inauguration ceremony was also attended by the Chairman of the DKI Jakarta Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRD) Prasetyo Edi Marsudi, the Director General of Railways of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) Risal Wasal, and the Director of PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) Tuhiyat.

Also present were the Director of Strategic Planning and Business Development of PT KAI John Robertho, President Director of PT Transjakarta Welfizon Yuza, President Director of PT Waskita Beton Precast Tbk FX Poerbayu Ratsunu, Director of Business Development Bambang Dwi Wijayanto, as well as the Board of Directors of KSO.
