Two sisters, aged 22 and 25, are on trial this Wednesday before the court in Valenciennes (North). They are accused of illegally injecting botox and hyaluronic acid into hundreds of clients.
Infections, inflammations, necrosis…
A total of 30 people, including a man, filed a complaint against the two defendants, residing in the North. Some had serious complications (inflammation, necrosis).
The defendants, suspected of having performed hundreds of illegal injections since January 1, 2021, in Hauts-de-France and the Paris region, are being prosecuted in particular for “illegal exercise of the profession of doctor”, or “fraud” . “Certain facts I recognize, certain others I dispute,” declared the elder, carefully braided black hair and swollen lips, at the opening of the hearing.
In pre-trial detention since July 17, she is also appearing for “endangering others with immediate risk of death or disability” and “involuntary injuries with incapacity not exceeding three months”. “I am of the same opinion as my sister,” said her younger sister, with a clearly retouched face, who appears free. Each faces up to 10 years in prison.
« Doctor Lougayne »
In March, the gendarmerie had launched a call for witnesses, after spotting particularly active Snapchat and Instagram accounts during an internet watch against illegal injections. The duo presented themselves under the pseudonym Doctor Lougayne.
Quickly identified and located, they were arrested in May in Valenciennes, while they were carrying out an injection session on several clients, for “rates ranging from 200 to 400 euros” according to the gendarmerie. Investigators then found “around a hundred syringes and vials of hyaluronic acid and botox, most of them of foreign origin”, some of which were expired, as well as “more than 14,000 euros in cash”. The products had a bacteria level up to “fifty times higher than the maximum authorized thresholds”, according to the gendarmes. The trial is due to end this evening.
