A Norwegian cruise ship with 206 passengers and crew members has run aground northwest of Greenland, authorities said Tuesday.

No one on that vessel was in danger and no damage was reported, authorities added.
“Our units are far away and the weather can be very adverse,” said Brian Jensen, commander of Denmark’s Joint Arctic Command.

The nearest Danish navy ship is about 1,200 nautical miles (more than 2,000 kilometers) away. It is on its way to the scene and should be there on Friday. In a statement, Jensen acknowledged that there was no threat to human life or the environment, but that officials were “taking this incident very seriously.”
The 104.4 meter long and 18 meter wide Ocean Explorer ran aground on Monday in Alpefjord in Northeast Greenland National Park, the world’s largest and northernmost national park known for icebergs and musk oxen.
The vessel belongs to the Norwegian Ulstein Group, but was sailing under the flag of the Bahamas.
