The ability to exchange information and the unified leadership of the services will to some extent stop political orders to them. This was noted by the journalist Emilia Milcheva to the BNR.
“Even in the previous parliament, the DB demanded the so-called deputization of the services. This was more than necessary. In a parliamentary republic, the parliamentary majority has the right to give its concept of how the security services will function in this intensified geopolitical situation, respectively to they also change their managers”.
Milcheva believes that some of the president’s criticisms are too harsh and do not suit the institution he represents.
She also analyzes the dismissal of Deputy Minister of Health Boyko Penkov by Prime Minister Denkov.
“It has been commented that at the heart of this conflict is the issue of increasing hospital beds. This means whether or not to give permits for the construction of new hospitals. Every new hospital expects support from the NHIF. It must be assessed whether this is good. What we are doing with the several heavily indebted municipal hospitals in Sofia, whose building stock is not fully utilized. There is no clear concept of what is being done in healthcare”.
Emilia Milcheva admires the decision to lift the ban on the import of Ukrainian grain after September 15.
“Stopping the ban on Ukrainian sunflower imports actually benefits us as consumers and also processors. Bulgarian producers withheld production in anticipation of higher prices. Last year we bought cheap oil because Ukrainian imports were allowed. Currently, Bulgarian processors factories are closing. This sector provides bread for 50,000 people, as well as cheap raw materials. A bottle of oil is important for feeding hundreds of thousands of Bulgarian households.”
She defined the request of a group of intellectuals, united around Solomon Passi and Rosen Plevneliev, to include our membership in the EU in the Constitution as “a bit propaganda”.
“The job of the rulers is to make the Bulgarians feel an integral part of the European and Euro-Atlantic community”.
The local elections are the biggest test for the new coalition between PP and DB, noted Milcheva.
“They will be a litmus test of how far the new coalition can impose its agenda and have a quota in the local government. If it fails, during the rotation quite a few key ministers can be replaced”
She believes that PP-DB have a chance to win the mayoral positions in Sofia and Plovdiv.
Borisov’s influence in GERB is slightly weakening, Milcheva also reported.
“He is committed to the options for his own political survival. He is sacrificing many interests of the party. This creates discontent among a part of the party active.”
