The Traditional Services Fair Returns with Strength and Surprises for Colombians in the Tri-State Area and Connecticut

NEW YORK.- After three years of absence due to issues related to the pandemic, the traditional Services Fair is back with more strength and many surprises for Colombians residing in the tri-state area and Connecticut.

For the first time, the consulates in New Jersey and New York, in collaboration with the Colombia Nos Une program, have joined together to carry out a new edition of the Services Fair in both states, on different dates, with the aim of presenting to Colombian communities various thematic routes that contribute to strengthening the life projects of Colombians in this region of the United States.

“The doors of this Fair are open to all Colombian families: those who have just arrived, as well as those who have been in this land for many years; for young people, students and professionals. It is a setting in which each one will find a opportunity to strengthen or continue strengthening your life project. This is how we have designed this edition of the Services Fair,” said Andrés Mejía, Consul General of Colombia in New York.

Both spaces, which will be located in Newark, New Jersey, and Queens, New York, will have the presence of organizations and local and state authorities specialized in areas such as entrepreneurship, health, education, migration and employment. In addition, the regions of Colombia will be represented through folklore demonstrations, music, art and gastronomy.

For María del Pilar Cruz, Consul General in New Jersey, the Services Fair “will provide useful and practical information to our community about the offering and benefits offered by both local and Colombian institutions in areas such as health, education, finance and support for entrepreneurship. Likewise, at the fair there will be a space dedicated to our entrepreneurs and information about employment opportunities.”

Colombian entities join the fairs

On this occasion, compatriots will have the opportunity to learn about the institutional offer aimed at Colombians abroad, offered by Colombian State entities such as Colpensiones and SENA. On the other hand, the Victims Unit and the National Army will be present to resolve doubts related to their respective areas of competence.

The real estate offer will also be available to the communities thanks to the presence of the Colombian Chamber of Construction (CAMACOL) and some construction companies that will explain how to invest in housing in our country.

In Newark, the Services Fair will be held at the NJIT – New Jersey Institute of Technology (56 Lock St., Newark, NJ 07103) on Friday, September 15 from 2 pm to 7 pm. On Saturday, September 16, the Fair will be open between 10 am and 7 pm.

In New York, Colombians will be able to attend Queens Borough Hall (120-55 Queens Blvd, Queens, NY 11424) on Saturday, September 16 and Sunday, September 17 from 11 am to 4 pm.

All Colombians are cordially invited to enjoy and take advantage of these spaces that are led by the Consulates in New Jersey and New York, along with the Colombia Nos Une program. Admission is free, so don’t miss the opportunity to participate and enrich your life project in the United States.
