Caen Drunk Driver Faces Criminal Charges: Repeat Offender with 19 Criminal Record Entries

On the night of September 8 to 9, 2023, around 2:40 a.m., a police car went down rue Manissier to reach rue Basse, in Caen (Calvados), but found itself facing a car traveling in the wrong direction.

The driver, who is clearly intoxicated, will refuse to blow into the breathalyzer. He had spent the evening on the port with friends, had drunk alcohol and wanted to go home to Rue de la Délivrande. However, his license was canceled on March 2, 2023 after a conviction for similar acts, committed in August 2022. He had borrowed his partner’s car, even though he owns his own vehicle. Judged in immediate appearance, Monday September 11, 2023, by the Caen criminal court, he claims to have been abstinent for several years and I sometimes have relapses. And every time he drinks, he gets behind the wheel again. With the luck I have, I get caught every time.

Aged 35, he has 19 entries in his criminal record. The public prosecutor is incomprehensible about this file and this reiteration, especially with a record like his.

For the defense, Me Pascale Le Cacheux pleads that he felt overworked and he wanted to relax with friends. He found a stable job. He is in a relationship and takes care of his 18-month-old child. The court sentences him to eight months in prison, which remains subject to change. The car is confiscated.
