In a press release, Monday (11/9/2023), Kaspersky said that this scheme takes advantage of users’ desire to be the first to own Apple’s newest device.

A common scheme, fraudsters claim, is that they can provide pre-release iPhones and promise users the chance to get them, often at a premium price.

To secure these “exclusive” purchases, victims are required to make an upfront payment or divulge their financial information.

Additionally, users are asked to provide personal identification details such as name, address, and telephone number. Once the payment is handed over, the fraudsters disappear, leaving the victim without the promised iPhone and losing their funds.

In addition to the financial risks, these scams also raise significant privacy concerns, as the stolen data can potentially be sold on the Black Market.

There is also another form of scam, which claims to give victims the chance to win a new iPhone 15, as long as they pay a fee up front.

This scheme usually starts with users who are attracted to the free iPhone 15, after their wait for this smartphone.
