Vietnam Aims to Boost Cashless Payments in E-commerce with New Goals and Initiatives

Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam Set the above goals under the effort to implement the national plan for the development of e-commerce. It also set a goal to increase the proportion of payments made through payment intermediaries to 80 percent of cashless payments in e-commerce activities by 2025.

Cashless payments are increasing in Vietnam in both number and value. It increased by 52.35 percent in the first five months of 2023 (January-May). Vietnam’s online payments were on an upward trend at 75.54 percent in volume and 1.77 percent in value.

Mobile phone payments increased 64.26 percent in quantity and 7.65 percent in value, while QR code payments increased 151.41 percent in quantity and 30.41 percent in value. that payments through store checkout increased by 30.35 percent and 27.27 percent in value terms
