The net employment forecast, the difference between the percentage of employers expecting to recruit staff and the percentage expecting to reduce the workforce, is an encouraging +31 percent. That is an increase of 8 percentage points compared to the previous quarter, but a slight decrease of 2 percentage points compared to the fourth quarter of 2022.
“Our Q4 survey results show renewed optimism among employers for the second consecutive quarter, despite persistent economic uncertainties,” said Sébastien Delfosse, managing director of ManpowerGroup BeLux.
In Brussels, employers are the most optimistic and report the strongest net employment forecast of the past year (+41 percent), an increase of 18 percentage points compared to the previous quarter. In the other two regions, employers are more cautious, with a recruitment plan of +27 percent.
