Masks have been made mandatory in Kozhikode as Nipah remains suspected in the district after Kozhikode reported two unnatural deaths due to fever. The proposal comes in the context of strict health vigilance in the district. Health Minister Veena George has instructed those visiting hospitals to be cautious. The health minister has instructed that the test results of the saliva samples will be available from Pune by late today and at this stage, fake news should not be spread. The minister also informed that Kozhikode control room will start working for prevention activities. Veena George said that there is a code of conduct for the control of communicable diseases in all hospitals. Hospital visits should be avoided as much as possible. 16 teams were assigned for defense operations. The nine-year-old child of the first deceased is on ventilator. The deceased’s wife is in isolation. A regional meeting will be held today at 2 pm in Kuttyadi to assess the situation. Minister Mohammad Riaz and others will participate in the meeting, the minister said.

The minister has also informed that an isolation system will be prepared in the medical college. High risk patients will be isolated here. A contact list of 75 persons has been prepared at present. They belong to primary contact. The person who died yesterday also went to a private hospital in Vadakara. The health minister added that the cremation of the person who died yesterday will take place after the results of the examination.
