Euro 2024 qualifiers: Portugal scores nine, Croatia flies to the top of the group
The Lusitanians go wild against Luxembourg, the Balkans only need a goal in the first half from Kramaric to take the momentary top spot in Group D. Slovakia and Wales also win.
New day of qualifying matches for Euro 2024: five matches taking place today.
Without Cristiano Ronaldo suspended, the Portuguese side defeated Luxembourg with a record victory, the sixth in as many matches, three days after the precious success in Slovakia.
For the team coached by Roberto Martinez, who did not spare the big names, Goncalo Inacio scored twice (both headers), Goncalo Ramos twice (the second with an assist from Rafael Leao) and Diogo Jota twice.
The other goals were scored by Bruno Fernandes, who also scored three assists, and by substitutes Ricardo Horta and Joao Felix.
Portugal still in first place with maximum points in Group J.

Slovakia remains in Portugal’s wake, having easily beaten Lichtenstein.

In the group of Portugal and Slovakia, Hermannsson’s Iceland won over Krunic and Kolasinac’s Bosnia, a 1-0 in which a goal in injury time by Alfred Finnbogason was decisive.
A penalty kick scored by former Juve player Aaron Ramsey midway through the first half and a goal late in injury time by David Brooks allowed Wales to conquer Latvia’s pitch and relaunch themselves in Group D.
