A former member of the presidential security forces (paspampres) Russia bluntly exposed the President’s weaknesses Vladimir Putin.

Vitaly Brizhaty, a guard agent for the Olivye palace, one of the two Russian palaces in Crimea, fled to Ecuador because he resisted Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. He is one of two former presidential candidates for Putin who openly criticized his former boss, especially regarding the invasion of Ukraine.

To Dozhd TVBrizhaty said Putin is a figure who is always shrouded in fear.

Putin was so afraid, he said, that the President couldn’t trust his own bodyguards.

Quoted from Radio Free Europe, the former Federal Protective Service (FSO) personnel gave the example that the Kremlin would announce Putin’s arrival at two different airports if he wanted to set foot in Crimea. However, the President could arrive by sea.

“That’s what this man feared in his life,” Brizhaty said.

Brizhaty also said that Putin did not allow FSO personnel to communicate with relatives from Ukraine, citizens of the United States and the European Union, as well as anyone who opposed the war. If they are caught communicating, these presidential guards will be criminalized.

This is one of the threats that makes Brizhaty nervous. Because he was afraid of being found out because he was still in contact with one of his friends who lived in the United States.

This friend is a person who strongly opposes Russia’s war in Ukraine. He was worried that if his friend liked pro-Ukraine posts, he could be investigated by Russian authorities.

“This is absolutely crazy,” he said.

At the beginning of the invasion, Brizhaty admitted that he had tried to leave the FSO. However, he was told he would be sent to fight in Ukraine if he left his assignment.

During his service in Crimea, he had a wife who came from that region. His wife then applied for a residence permit in Ecuador as a worker and received permission. The residence permit was also given to Brizhaty.

Because he held a residence permit from another country, the FSO dismissed Brizhaty from service. FSOs and other Russian security service personnel are not permitted to hold foreign passports or residence permits from other countries.

After being fired, Brizhaty went to Ecuador to live with his wife.
