After the successful Evo37 model, Kimera Automobili is preparing two more novelties, the Evo38 and the K-39.
Two years ago, the Italian company Kimera Automobili showed the world a project called Evo37, which became a restomod of the famous Lancia 037 model. 37 units of Evo37 sold out quickly, but lovers of these projects need not be sad. Kimera Automobili is working on two more projects, which will not be long in coming.
Before introducing them, let’s recall what the Evo37 model looks like from a technical point of view. The 2.1-liter turbocharged four-cylinder remains in the guts. Instead of a compressor, it’s a turbocharger, thanks to which the output is 377 kW (513 hp) and 550 Nm of torque. Rear-wheel drive and manual transmission were also retained.
The Italian company revealed the silhouettes of the Evo38 and K-39 models. The first-named model is scheduled to premiere in the first half of next year and is inspired by the SE038 model, or the Lancia Delta S4. As the rear-wheel drive 037 began to fall behind the competition, Lancia prepared a special with all-wheel drive. Kimera has not disclosed the technical data, but it is supposed to take over several solutions from the original, which it is supposed to combine with modern technology.
The K-39 will also debut in 2024. According to the silhouette revealed by Kimera, the K-39 will likely be inspired by the Lancia Beta Montecarlo from the second half of the 1970s. It is speculated that this project could be intended for use in motorsport, not for customers. It would certainly not be surprising, Kimera is originally a racing team, the founder of which is the former rally driver Luca Betti.
The restomod Evo37 is not only a joy to look at, it also sounds beautiful. At a time when most vintage models come to life in electric drive, projects from Kimera Automobili are a nice change. And we are glad that they intend to actively continue this.
