Apple is doing a major purge of its store tomorrow
Gone are several iPhones, the original Apple Watch Ultra, and all leather accessories
We will have to say goodbye to the last iPhone mini
As early as tomorrow night, Apple will unveil four new iPhones and the Apple Watch, which means it will shut down its online store and make a few changes during the day. In addition to the addition of newly introduced products, some older items will also be removed. We will have to say goodbye to everything, indicated the respected informant Mark Gurman from the Bloomberg server.
The iPhone 13 mini will disappear from the menu
Apple currently offers three generations of iPhones on its website, plus a cheap iPhone SE. However, according to information from retailers and their stock, it looks like this supply will be visibly thinned tomorrow evening. With the arrival of new iPhones, they are supposed to disappear from the Apple store:
iPhone 12
iPhone 13 mini
iPhone 14 Pro a 14 Pro Max
Probably the most noticeable loss will be the iPhone 13 mini, as it is the last of its kind in Apple’s offer. Those interested in a small smartphone have not completely disappeared, but there are not enough of them to make it worthwhile for Apple to keep this model alive – instead, the significantly larger iPhone 14 Plus is on offer. So, excluding the speculated “renegades”, tomorrow night’s iPhone lineup should be as follows:
iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max iPhone 15 and 15 Plus iPhone 14 and 14 Plus iPhone 13 (likely) iPhone SE
It’s not just iPhones that are going away
In addition to iPhones, the Apple Store is to be depleted of other products as well – for example, the first generation Apple Watch Ultra is to disappear, which will be replaced by the second generation. Along with it, some types of straps, all leather cases and MagSafe wallets will no longer be available.
The arrival of USB-C
While some products will disappear into the abyss of history, others will be exchanged for adequate substitutes. For example, leather accessories should be replaced with new accessories made of woven material, which Apple named “FineWoven”.
Latest tidbits from retail:
– Low/no stock of Watch Ultras, watch bands, leather cases, MagSafe wallets, iPhone 12, 13 minis, Pro phones
– Merchandise reset on evening of Sept. 12 with manager call set for after event. Uncharacteristic for event days
– Plan to push USB-C bricks— Mark Gurman (@markgurman) September 10, 2023
Apple also plans to push USB-C accessories through the Apple Store, especially adapters and cables for the new iPhones. There is also speculation about the introduction of new MagSafe battery packs with a USB-C port and a new charging box for AirPods Pro headphones.
All news will be added to the Apple Store after the end of the press conference, which starts tomorrow at 19:00 our time.
