Fuel Shortage in Russia: Gas Stations Closed and Prices Soar

There is a fuel shortage in Russia. Prices soared by several rubles at once, and in the south of the aggressor country gas stations were closed en masse.

In annexed Crimea and the south of the Russian Federation, the fuel crisis is intensifying. The Russian government has already found scapegoats: oil workers are blamed for creating an artificial fuel shortage, and before that Gazprom closed hundreds of its gas stations.

The head of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation, Nikolai Shulginov, claims that gas stations were suddenly empty and began to sell fuel using coupons, allegedly due to an artificially created shortage.

Someone simply tried to take advantage of the situation – they closed gas stations, creating an artificial shortage“, the RIA Novosti propaganda agency quotes the official as saying.

According to him, the Russian government is allegedly trying to solve the problem, but one after another photos and videos of gas stations appear on social networks with announcements that fuel will be sold using coupons.

Residents and guests of the annexed Crimea, Krasnodar and Stavropol territories were the first to feel the crisis; later fuel disappeared in other regions at the height of the harvesting campaign.

It is noteworthy that wholesale fuel prices in Russia began to rise rapidly in July. So, for example, diesel fuel over the past two months has risen in price by an average of 26%, to 67 thousand rubles. per ton.

Previously inhabitants of the peninsula complained on the inability to purchase diesel fuel: the authorities announced problems with logistics. Local residents claim that trucks have not driven across the bridge across the Kerch Strait for a long time. Transportation continues only by ferries.
