Local officials feared a real environmental disaster.
In the city of Anadia (Portugal), several streets were flooded with wine because two tanks burst at the Destilaria Levira winery.
This is reported by JN.
This happened on the morning of Sunday, September 10. Local officials feared that liters of wine would spill into the Sertima River, which could lead to an environmental disaster.
“According to our civil protection coordinator, this monitoring is being carried out and environmental problems are being avoided. We are also concerned about the economic losses of the company and are going to see the damage caused by this situation,” said Jorge Sampaio, vice president of the Anadia City Council.
A natural disaster has likely been averted for now, authorities said. The spilled alcoholic drink has already been removed from the streets of Anadia, and the plant’s employees have cleaned up the damaged city facilities. Fortunately, no one was injured as a result of the incident.

Funds for cleaning city streets were provided by the company Destilaria Levira, at whose facility the accident occurred. So far, experts have not calculated the amount of economic damage caused to the city and the plant.
The company encourages local communities to take photographs of damage and losses so they can communicate and agree on necessary procedures. The business expressed its readiness to solve the problems that arose at any time.
