The Austria-wide campaign will take place on September 13th in the state capitals
Vienna (OTS) – There will be a very special premiere on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at 10:00 a.m., for example on the main square of the respective state capital, when the Austrian florists carry out their first flash mob. The motto of the campaign, which is carried out by the state guilds in cooperation with the Austrian Flower Office, is: “Crafts come to blossom”.
During the 30-minute event, which is of course accompanied by music, the bouquets of flowers are made live in front of an audience and then distributed to passers-by.
Johann Obendrauf: “Being a florist is simply cool”
“With our flash mob, we want to draw attention to the skills and creativity of the floristry profession and show young people how many facets our craft encompasses,” said Johann ObendraufFederal Guild Master Deputy of Austrian Gardeners and Florists in the Austrian Chamber of Commerce and President of the Austrian Flower Office.
“Or to put it another way: The profession of a florist is absolutely ‘fresh’, that is, simply cool and trendy, to put it in the language of the young. Whether someone wants to work as a color artist or wants a job where they “It can develop and give free rein to individual creativity: in floristry everything is possible and desired,” continues Johann Obendrauf.

“In addition, florists with their craft and their products are true ‘moments of life’ companions, because every important event in a person’s life is usually accompanied by flowers. – This is a unique privilege,” states the President of the Flower Office. “I am also proud that sustainability has been a priority in our industry for years – be it through our regional products or the materials we use. We view nature as a valuable asset that must be protected at all costs.”
