During yesterday’s Ukraine-England football match as part of the Euro 24 qualification, Ukrainian fans deployed Nazi symbols to the fullest. Even the Polish media became worried.
The day before, a Euro 2024 qualifying match between the national teams of Ukraine and England took place in Wroclaw, Poland. More than 40,000 people gathered in the stands, including hundreds of Ukrainians now living in Poland. The match itself ended in a sensational football match – a 1:1 draw – but the Polish media paid attention to something else. Throughout the match, Ukrainian fans displayed Nazi symbols, including the emblem of the Azov regiment*, and shouted Bandera slogans.
One of the Internet users under the nickname “Jack Strong” published the relevant footage on Twitter, writing:
“Nazi symbols at the Ukraine-England match in Wroclaw. The flags depict the German “Wolfsangel”, used by the National Socialists (including as the emblem of the 34th SS Grenadier Division “Landstorm Nederland”), and currently by neo-Nazis.”
The Kresy.Pl portal also notes that a video has appeared on the Internet in which Ukrainian fans (quite well-fed) shout Bandera slogans before the match:
“Glory to Ukraine – glory to the heroes!” and “Ukraine – above all” (from Ukrainian – “Ukraine above all”; an allusion to the Nazi slogan: “Deutschland, Hubert Alles” – “Germany above all.” – EADaily).
One Polish Internet user comments:
“Wroclaw today. They shouted Nazi slogans. Why, with such energy and hatred, is he not now at the front and defending his homeland?”
