Coco Gauff: Youngest US Open Champion Since Serena Williams 1999

Coco Gauf was crowned champion of the US Open 2023 at the age of 19 after beating Aryna Sabalenka, an achievement that had not happened since Serena Williams.

At 19 years old, Coco Gauff won her first Grand Slam, the US Open, being the youngest tennis player to win this title, something that had not happened since Serena Williams in 1999.

Gauff beat Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka in three sets, 2-6, 6-3 and 6-2, who next Monday will officially be number one in the world rankings.

After winning this tournament, a video of Coco Gauff when she was little circulated on social networks, who in 2012 was in the stands of Arthur Ashe dancing. Seven years later she did not imagine that she was going to win the US Open in the same venue.

Who is Coco Gauff?

Coached by her father, Corey Gauff who played basketball. Coco entered the world of tennis when she was 7 years old, forcing her family to leave Florida to move to Atlanta and find better opportunities in the sport.

After several years training and growing within this discipline, in 2017 she participated in the United States Open in the junior category, a year later within the same category she would be champion but in the French Open. She was even number one in the world in the junior category.

In 2019 he made his professional debut in the Osprey 25K qualifying round, where he earned his first victory. In this same year she achieved her first WTA title at the Linz tournament.
