This year’s speculations about the iPhone 15 Ultra have not been confirmed
Although it was offered directly, Apple will use the designation iPhone 15 Pro Max for the most equipped model this year
We will see the official performance next Tuesday, September 12 at 19:00
In recent weeks, foreign media have been quite often talking about the fact that this year’s most equipped iPhone will be called the iPhone 15 Ultra instead of the established and somewhat confusing designation 15 Pro Max. This name is not only shorter and simpler, but when paralleled with the most equipped Apple Watch Ultra, it would definitely make sense.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who is very close to the behind-the-scenes information from Apple, however refuted the new name “According to the scheme of recent years, Apple plans to introduce four models again: iPhone 15, 15 Plus, 15 Pro and the 15 Pro Max model, not Ultra, as was widely speculated. The iPhone 15 and 15 Plus will be entry-level models that will offer an aluminum frame and glass back like the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus. The remaining two flagship iPhones will offer a slightly updated design and stainless steel and titanium frames,” he states in his latest article.
iPhone 15 Pro Max s periskopem?
In the case of the Pro Max model, the main and wide-angle camera will be identical to the iPhone 15 Pro model, namely the following photo chips:
main 48 Mpx Sony IMX803 sensor with a size of 1/1.3″ with an aperture of f/1.8 telephoto lens with a resolution of 12.7 Mpx with an aperture of f/2.8
The biggest change, however, should be the periscopic telephoto lens. Its zoom should be between 5x and 10x, but considering the size of the sensor and aperture, the physical zoom should be around 4x. So the question is whether the periscopic telephoto lens in the Pro Max will also use some form of digital zoom. It has a resolution of 12.7 Mpx, a sensor size of 1/1.9″, an aperture of f/2.8 and a focal length of 85 millimeters.
iPhone 15 Pro/Max should again bet on conservative colors (black, gray, silver/white and dark blue), but there is also speculation about a red edition
Apple also uses a periscopic telephoto lens on the most equipped iPhone for a purely practical sales reason. Physically, it takes up quite a lot of space in the phone, which the Pro Max version does not have to deal with, unlike the “more compact” Pro model. For 2024, however, there is also speculation about an increase in the size of the Pro model, which would open the door for the implementation of a periscopic telephoto lens in both flagship models. And it is not excluded that the most equipped iPhone 16 Pro Max will reach store shelves as the iPhone 16 Ultra.
