Wolter Kroes will not be performing for the time being. The popular folk singer is suffering from acute laryngitis and has had to cancel all his performances this weekend.
“Dear everyone, unfortunately I do not have good news,” Kroes wrote on Instagram on Saturday. “Last week I had terrible problems with my airways. Lots of coughing and a terrible cold.”
The throat infection did not come completely out of the blue. “Last night I performed in Heemskerk and I already noticed that it was tough. In Hoofddorp during the second performance I noticed that something was wrong. Fortunately I was able to finish the performance,” says the 54-year-old singer.
“This morning I woke up with a severe throat infection. I completely lost my voice. With great regret and a bad feeling, I had to cancel all performances after consultation. Health always comes first.”
Kroes will now consult each day to see how things will proceed. “But unfortunately today and tomorrow cannot go ahead due to doctor’s advice.”
