Mohamed Salah and the Saudi Al-Ittihad.. Will he leave Liverpool?
Last summer’s transfer market witnessed the Saudi Al-Ittihad Club submitting a huge financial offer to the English Liverpool management, in order to obtain the services of the Egyptian star, Mohamed Salah, for 150 million pounds sterling.
The technical staff of the English club Liverpool, led by German coach Jurgen Klopp, breathed a sigh of relief after the transfer period in the Saudi Football League was closed, and Mohamed Salah remained with the Reds and did not leave for the Al-Ittihad team, according to what the British newspaper “Mirror” reported on Saturday.
But talk about Mohamed Salah’s future with the English club Liverpool is still ongoing, after Michael Emenalo, the sports director of the Saudi Football League, revealed the club managements’ desire to make more contracts during the upcoming transfer market.
On Saturday, the British Sky Sports network quoted Michael Emenalo as saying: “Mohamed Salah is one of the best players in the world. I have said before, privately and publicly, that we welcome any player who wants to come to the Saudi League competitions.”
He continued: “Saudi clubs will try to obtain the services of a number of stars in the upcoming transfer market, and this also includes Mohamed Salah, and we are working in a professional manner, in order to implement the rules of professionalism and improve the Saudi League competitions.”
He explained by saying, “The failure of our deal with Mohamed Salah does not mean that we do not like him or that there is a problem with Liverpool. What happened with us is that there was no agreement between all parties, and we are moving forward, and we never close the door, and if there is an opportunity to bring Mohamed Salah… To the Saudi League, we will be very grateful.”
It is noteworthy that the Egyptian star, Mohamed Salah, 31 years old, signed a long-term contract with Liverpool FC in July 2022, which made him a paid player with the team, where he receives 350 thousand pounds sterling per week.
