PDI Perjuangan (PDIP) will hold a consolidation meeting with the coalition parties supporting Bacapres Ganjar Pranowo on Wednesday (13/9).

PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto said that one of the main points of discussion at the consolidation meeting was related to the discourse on joining the Democratic Party into the coalition.

It is known that this discourse emerged after the Democrats officially withdrew from the Coalition for Change for Unity and withdrew support for Anies Baswedan as a presidential candidate.

“Regarding the collaboration in carrying out Pak Ganjar, because PDIP is already together with PPP, Perindo and Hanura, of course we will also discuss together the door knocking carried out by the Democratic Party,” he told reporters, Saturday (9/9 ).

“And next Wednesday, September 13, a consolidation meeting will be held,” he added.

Hasto explained that currently his party and the Democratic Party are still continuing to build political communication to explore the possibility of joining the same coalition.

He emphasized that his party was also open and welcomed if the Democrats could join and support Ganjar Pranowo. Moreover, previously there was also a meeting between the Chair of the PDIP DPP, Puan Maharani, and the General Chair of the Democratic Party, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono.

“We’ve already met, once again Mbak Puan, Mas AHY, being able to meet at GBK is a very positive thing. Then there is also frequent communication between the secretaries general,” he explained.

The discourse on a Democrat coalition with PDIP emerged after they withdrew their support from Anies Baswedan and chose to leave the Coalition for Change for Unity.

Most recently, PDIP politician Deddy Yevry Sitorus said that his party would establish intensive communication with the Democratic Party starting next week. Both are ready to open up opportunities to work together.

“I think next week there will be intense discussions like that. Our hope is that (a formal meeting), the Democrats also need a recovery process, right, they also need to do all kinds of calculations. If we are just open,” said Deddy when contacted CNNIndonesia.comFriday (8/9).
