TASS, September 9. Russian weightlifter Tatyana Kashirina was stripped of three world records and three world championship victories by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). The organization reported this to the Inside The Games portal.
“All competition results shown by Tatyana Kashirina from April 1, 2013 to June 19, 2017 were canceled with all the ensuing consequences, including confiscation of any titles, awards, medals, points and prize money and money for performance,” the statement said.
Kashirina was stripped of three world records in the snatch (155 kg), clean and jerk (193 kg) and total weight (348 kg), which she set in 2014, competing in the weight category over 90 kg. The athlete was also deprived of three gold medals at the world championships (2013, 2014, 2015) and three victories at the European championships (2014, 2015, 2017). Now world records belong to Chinese Li Wenwen, who became the Tokyo Olympic champion in the weight category over 87 kg. In 2021, at the Asian Championships, the athlete showed results of 148 kg in the snatch, 187 kg in the clean and jerk and 335 kg in total weight.
On September 10, 2022, the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) dropped all charges against Kashirina of violating anti-doping rules. Due to the suspension, the athlete was forced to miss the Moscow European Championships, held in April 2021, as well as the Tokyo Olympics. On August 31, 2023, CAS overturned the decision of the RUSADA Disciplinary Anti-Doping Committee and disqualified her for eight years.
