Jakarta –
Watching an anaconda in a film or documentary makes you scared, let alone seeing one the size of a gaban in person and passing by the side of a canoe. My life seemed to be floating away because I was super tense.
Maybe that’s what the video recorder who went viral on TikTok felt like. Even though he was filled with tension and fear, he managed to capture the Anaconda swimming snaking across the plant-filled waters.
It is estimated that the snake is 7 meters long. With this size, it is easy for the Anaconda to devour large prey such as humans.
Because of this, the video uploaded by the @amazoniantrails account is full of comments from frightened netizens. To date, the 35 second video has been watched 27.4 million times and liked by 1.2 million TikTok users.
“You can still record calmly, sir…it’s not the camera shaking,” said Laneta Rosita’s account.
“That’s why I have a phobia of swamp water, of course there are snakes and crocodiles in the film,” said Se-hwa Eka’s account.
“Luckily I was watching the video because otherwise I would have passed out,” said the Gabba Chan account.
“Oh my gosh the giant crawling next to the boat combined with the sound of billions of insects gave me goosebumps,” said Kimberleykats.
“I would never live in a place where creatures like this roam around as usual,” said Takachin’s account.

Anaconda as big as Gaban
Anaconda is one of the largest snakes in the world that lives in the tropical region of South America. This snake belongs to the boa constrictor family and has four different species, namely the green anaconda, yellow anaconda, dark spotted anaconda and Bolivian anaconda.
The green anaconda is the largest species ever discovered, reaching 9 meters in length and weighing up to 227 kilograms. Female anacondas are larger than males and give birth viviparously (do not lay eggs).
Anacondas are semiaquatic snakes that spend most of their time in rivers and swamps. This snake has good swimming abilities and can hold its breath for up to 10 minutes underwater.
Anacondas hunt their prey by twisting it until it dies and then swallowing it whole. This snake is not venomous but has flexible jaws that can open wide to swallow large animals such as jaguars, deer, pigs, or turtles.
This snake digests food so slowly that it can survive without food for up to a year after eating large prey.
Anaconda has no natural enemies other than humans. However, humans often hunt anacondas for skin, meat or traditional medicine.
Apart from that, habitat loss due to land clearing and climate change also threatens the anaconda population.
Even though the anaconda is not on the endangered species list, this snake still needs protection so that it does not become extinct. Anacondas are an important part of the rainforest ecosystem and have a role as top predators that control other animal populations.
