Inhabitants of the urban area of the municipality of San Alberto, Cesar, will be able to enjoy better drinking water service, due to the aqueduct optimization project, which promises to guarantee greater continuity and quality of drinking water for residents. 21.000 residents of this area of the department.
The implementation is a work articulated by the Government of Cesar and the municipal mayor’s office, which manage different processes for the development of the department focused on better conditions and quality of life for the residents of Cesar.
The need to carry out optimization work on the municipality’s drinking water treatment plant arose due to the limited space that is present, which is no longer enough to supply the population.
Elmer Martínez, who has been working at the current drinking water treatment plant for more than 10 years, highlighted the importance of optimizing the aqueduct because he considers that “This plant is already very small, the population has grown, there are many neighborhoods and with another plant and another tank the 24-hour service to the community could be improved.”
The technical interventions included in the project include the optimization of the intake, adduction, sand trap, and the adduction line. Next, the construction of a storage tank with a capacity of 1,332 cubic metersthe construction of a new drinking water treatment plant with the capacity 47 liters per second, the optimization of the current water treatment plant and lighting of the project lot.
“San Alberto deserves to have water 24 hours a day, it is a commitment, it is a dream and a basic need of every human being. Thanks to this work, the municipality will be able to continue expanding, many people want to land lots and do business in this municipality,” said Carlos Arturo Ríos Vera, mayor of San Alberto.

For his part, Andrés Meza, governor of Cesar, expressed that “It is very important that in this work we have the human capital from here, from San Alberto. For us it is of great satisfaction to achieve this type of project, because it is impossible to think about the development of Cesar if we continue to have drinking water problems.”
To carry out the project underway in the municipality of San Alberto, more than $7.5 billionby the Cesar department that through its strategy ‘Water Revolution‘ has allocated a figure higher than the $300,000 million to water and basic sanitation projects throughout the department, carrying out more than 18 works.
