Putin’s Statements on Conflict in Ukraine and Western Provocation: Implications for Russia’s Development

The Russian President, Vladimir Putin, stated that The West has provoked the conflict in Ukraine in order to hold back Russia’s development. He made the comment during a meeting with young scientists in Sarov, Russia.

Putin recalled his previous visit to Sarov in 2014, when the start of the conflict in Ukraine and the annexation of Crimea had already prompted Western sanctions against Russia. He stated that it was part of the West’s efforts to limit Russia’s technological sovereignty and hinder its development.

Putin recalled that nine years ago he spoke about the need “to take vigorous measures to guarantee the technological sovereignty” of Russia. “I must say that our predictions have come true,” he noted. Despite this success, he noted that there is still work to be done on this issue.

This kind of rhetoric from Putin is not unusual and reflects the point of view of the Russian government regarding the conflict in Ukraine and sanctions from the West, writes BTA.
