Two Police Officers Injured in School Struggle in Voorburg, Suspect Arrested

Sep 8, 2023 at 7:18 PM Update: 31 minutes ago

Two police officers were injured on Thursday during a struggle at a school on Delflandlaan in Voorburg. The officers were there to intervene in a conflict between several young people. One of them (with the help of his mother) attacked the officers.

Around 4 p.m., a report was received of a “troubled situation” between young people at the school in Voorburg, the police reported. It is not clear whether the young people are also students at the school.

A fourteen-year-old boy from The Hague did not respond to instructions from the officers and was stopped. His mother, who was also on site, prevented this. The boy then targeted another officer and grabbed her with a neck lock. A struggle then ensued, during which another officer was also injured. The boy has been arrested.

“The police do not tolerate verbal or physical violence against police officers and others with a public task and always take action against it. In the event of aggression and violence against police officers, the police stands firmly behind its employees,” the police said in a statement. The suspect will not only be prosecuted criminally, but also financially for causing damage, the police said.
