Former Bond actress Michelle Yeoh is now to be elected to the committee.
– The election of four new women reinforces the IOC’s commitment to gender equality, says chairman Thomas Bach.
The International Olympic Committee, IOC, organizes the Olympic Games and consists of a maximum of 115 members.
Now Michelle Yeoh, 61, is about to become one of them.
During Friday, the IOC held a board meeting where eight new members were nominated to the committee.
– They all have the love of sport in common and they strongly believe in the Olympic values and what the IOC stands for, says IOC President Thomas Bach in a statement in connection with the meeting.
Won an Oscar this year
Michelle Yeoh from Malaysia is known, among other things, for having had a leading role in the Bond film Tomorrow Never Dies and she has also featured in films such as Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Kung Fu Panda 2.

As recently as March this year, she became the first woman from Asia to receive an Oscar for Best Actress. This for his performance in the superhero comedy Everywhere All at Once.
In July this year, Yeoh married former FIA president Jean Todt.
The Swede nominated
Swedish Petra Sörling, 52, is also expected to be voted into the IOC at the annual general meeting in Bombay in mid-October. She is already president of the International Table Tennis Federation.

– The election of four new women strengthens the IOC’s commitment to gender equality by increasing the number of members to 44 women, which means that the percentage of women is 41.4 percent, says Thomas Bach.
Kim Jae-youl, Yael Arad, Balázs Fürjes, Cecilia Tait, Michael Mronz and Mehrez Boussayene have also been nominated for the IOC.
