History: Direct flights from Israel to Kazakhstan

The Kazakh national airline “Air Astana” today launched a direct flight line from Tbilisi to Almaty in Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan’s ambassador to Israel, Stivaldi Borshtkov, held a reception in Tbilisi for passengers who arrived on the first flight from Almaty. The heads of the Airports Authority and representatives of “Air Astana” also participated in the ceremony.

The ambassador explained that with the opening of the direct flight, the cooperation between the two countries will reach a new level, and will have a positive effect on expanding cooperation in the fields of trade, tourism and culture, and strengthening business ties.

Air Astana will operate 2 weekly flights on the new route, on Thursdays and Sundays, on an Airbus A321LR aircraft. The price of the flight tickets will be 603 dollars in tourist class, and 1,438 dollars in business class. The sale has already started on the official website of Air Astana, and through the travel agencies.

Aviation experts predict success for the new line, because Almaty is a popular destination for businessmen from Israel as well as for tourists. Especially from Chabad followers, because Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Schneerson, the father of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, is buried in the city.
