The Chinese Italian small car manufacturing company XEV has announced at the IAA Mobility exhibition that the two and a half meter long city car will also be available on the German market.
The XEV Yoyo is a mere 2.53 m long and 1.50 m wide electric vehicle equipped with a 15 kW (20 hp) electric motor. According to the manufacturer, the Yoyo has a top speed of 80 km/h and a range of approximately 150 kilometers powered by a 10.4 kilowatt-hour battery. As an alternative to charging, the battery can be changed in about three minutes. The vehicle is perfectly suited for city traffic – it takes up little space, and the turning radius is only 4 meters.
The design provides that the three packs can be removed from the lower rear of the car and exchanged for charged ones, if the official exchange station supports such a service.
In Italy, XEV is known to have set up more than 30 such battery exchange stations in five cities, involving the energy supplier ENI.
Another special feature of the XEV Yoyo is the colorful door sides of different designs, which are produced with a 3D printer. There are 42 different types on offer, providing ample possibilities for individualization.
The XEV Yoyo is a two-seater vehicle offered in four trim levels. Depending on it, Yoyo’s equipment can include a multimedia touch screen with a size of up to 10.25 inches, electric power steering, Apple Carplay and Android Auto support, air conditioning, and a panoramic roof. There is also a small trunk for bringing purchases from the supermarket.
