That authors, composers, artists, music journalists and fans also have a space to share their knowledge about music and also learn how this industry develops is the main purpose of the Music Week meeting that will celebrate its first edition this month.
It is an initiative of the Society of Authors and Composers of Ecuador (Sayce), with the support of Sony Music Publishing Colombia and the School of Music of the University of the Americas (Udla). The aforementioned event, with free access through prior registration, will take place from Tuesday 12 to Thursday 14 September, at the headquarters of the higher institution domiciled in Quito.
“We will have three days of talks and panels, as well as a music camp that is taking place for the second consecutive year with Sony Music Publishing, which we have already done last year in Guayaquil. Those interested meet with Sayse partners, who are authors and producers signed by Sony, in composition rooms and they are composing the whole day, with the idea of releasing new songs”, explained Ana Baquero, Director of Communication and partners of Sayce, about the second edition of Beyond the Songcamp, a parallel event to the Music Week agenda.

The schedule of the meeting starts on Tuesday the 12th, with the talks and panels How to live from Publishing without dying trying; Musical connections in Latin America: what unites us in the region; How to get the attention of an A&R?; and ends with the gathering Behind the music, by the Ecuadorian singers Mar Rendón and Pancho Terán and the Argentine Axel. They will share the inspirations behind their most iconic tracks.
On Wednesday the 13th, the topics to be discussed are: AULA Spotify: Good Practices 101; The music business; From the theory to the practice; Everything you need to know about copyright; Challenges and experiences of women in the music industry; and TikTok in the music industry – best practices, by Gabriel Llano, Head of Musical Operations TikTok Spanish-speaking Latam.
Finally, Music Week culminates on Thursday the 14th with: 22 ways to monetize your musical project; Construction and brand development in an artist; How the big tours in Latin America work today; and The future of the music industry in Ecuador.
Sayce will provide free workshops to learn how to monetize musical creations on digital platforms
“It is an opportunity for authors and composers, artists, producers, all people who make a living from music or who want to make a living from music, precisely so that they can find tools to do so. The idea is that the music industry finally grows”, points out Baquero, who also announces the launch of the fifth edition of the music incentive program for Sayce members, “which since 2019 has already delivered almost 450,000 dollars to more than 100 musical projects”.
The general public interested in these contents can register until Sunday, September 10, on the Sayce website, clicking here. (E)
