Airparif predicts a “further increase in ozone levels in the Ile-de-France region” due to the late heat wave.
As a result of the late heat wave, the air quality is poor in the north of Île-de-France on Tuesday and will remain so on Wednesday. Airparif, the air quality observatory, indicates that in the rest of the region, the quality oscillates between degraded and average.
“The persistence of summer weather (strong sunshine, high temperatures, drop in wind) will lead to a further increase in ozone levels in the Ile-de-France region”, can we read on the site of Airparif.
Cergy, Sarcelles or the north of Val-d’Oise are particularly affected by this poor air quality.

Same observation on Wednesday, therefore, where the hot and dry weather “will favor the formation of ozone”, indicates Airparif. The air quality will this time be the worst in the west of the region and mostly degraded in the rest of the territory.
“Saharan sand upwellings could impact PM10 particle levels,” ends the forecaster.
Up to 35°C during the week
The mercury has been high since this weekend in Île-de-France, while a depression located off Portugal brings warm air from the Sahara.
The 30°C mark has been crossed for the third consecutive day in the region and this should continue until the beginning of next week. 34°C are expected in Paris this Tuesday at the best of the day, as in Pontoise and Aulnay-sous-Bois, while it will be 35°C in Meaux or 33°C in Sarcelles.
To limit pollution, it is advisable to use public transport rather than your personal vehicle. Outdoor sports activities are also to be avoided during peak pollution periods.
