UK Records Hottest Day of the Year: Met Office

The United Kingdom today registered the hottest day so far this year, Reuters reported, citing the British Meteorological Service, BTA reported.

According to Met Office data, a temperature of 32.6 degrees Celsius was measured in South East England. The previous record this year was 32.2 degrees, which was measured twice in June, the service noted.

Britain’s chief meteorologist Stephen Ramsdale said temperatures were “well above average for this time of year” as high pressure moved across the south-east of the country. “We are seeing heatwave conditions for most of England and Wales, with parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland also likely to experience unseasonably high temperatures,” Ramsdale explained.
