The president of Triennale Milano Stefano Boeri and the president of Maxxi Alessandro Giuli today visited the Cathedral of Odessa hit by a Russian attack together with the special envoy of the vice premier and foreign minister Antonio Tajani for reconstruction Davide La Cecilia, the director of the UNESCO for Ukraine, Chiara Dezzi Bardeschi, the General Secretary of Maxxi Francesco Spano, as well as the Ambassador Pier Francesco Zazo.
“Today in Odessa a first important and pragmatic step to give life to an Italian patronage on the future of this extraordinary city which encompasses the cultures and religions of the world”, said Boeri, explaining that “the first step, after the today’s inspection and a first summit with the mayor and local technicians and Unesco, will be the establishment of an Italian/Ukrainian laboratory which will deal with the reconstruction of the Orthodox Cathedral of Odessa, under the coordination of the Triennale and Maxxi. October in Milan, at the Triennale, a first forum on the reconstruction and regeneration of Odessa will be held”.
Giuli explained that ”all Italian cultural subjects have moved since the beginning of the war in Ukraine with conviction, but in no particular order. Now it is a question of centralizing the work, creating synergies and implementing a system project, pooling the experience of each cultural institution”.
