China Releases new datasets acquired by Mars and lunar probes
Beijing, Bolong.id – China published two data sets from Mars and Moon investigations on Monday (04/09).
Reporting from 人民网 Wednesday (06/09/23), data was obtained from three scientific payloads including high-definition cameras on Tianwen-1, the country’s Mars rover, from January to March this year.
Its volume is nearly 68 gigabytes, according to the National Astronomical Observatories of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (NAOC).
This is the fifth data release from the investigation. Tianwen-1, consisting of an orbiter, lander and rover, entered Mars orbit on February 10, 2021, becoming the country’s first probe to orbit the planet.
In addition, the NAOC team published the 38th scientific data obtained from four payloads attached to the Chang’e-4 lander and rover between April 15 and June 24 this year. The data is 2.7 gigabytes in size.
The Chang’e-4 spacecraft, launched on December 8, 2018, made its first soft landing in the Von Karman Crater in the South Pole-Aitken Basin on the far side of the moon on January 3, 2019.
