AvtoVAZ plans to return the stabilization system (ESP) to Lada cars in the first half of next year. An official representative of the company told Autonews.ru about this.

It is expected that the Russian company Itelma will produce this equipment for Lada cars. Andrey Butnev, technical director of this company, said in an interview with RIA Novosti that they plan to start producing domestic ESP systems for cars in December this year at a plant in Kostroma.

According to him, Lada Vesta will first get this option. He recalled that an anti-lock braking system (ABS) manufactured by NPP Itelma is already being installed on this model.

Now ABS blocks are manufactured on the new production line of NPP Itelma (ESP will also be produced there). For this, a workshop with a fully automated production line was built.

Previously, the company received a license to localize the production of ABS and ESP systems. So, in Russia they will master the assembly of an electric motor, electronic components, a case and other necessary components. The project is being implemented without attracting subsidies or budgetary funds and is completely commercial.

The annual production of ABS and ESP will be 850,000 units with the prospect of increasing to 1.2 million units per year.
