The Modest Life of Yeralash Star Sergei Shelgunov: From Actor to Roofer

In a modest hard worker, you don’t recognize that funny boy.

The newsreel “Yeralash” gave a start in life to many young actors. However, not all of them, when they grew up, decided to build a career in show business. Sergei Shelgunov played in the transfer of diverse characters, the guy was predicted a great future, but the young man went the other way.

During perestroika, Shelgunov starred in several low-budget films, including Steppe Squadron, Dangerous Prize and Five Kidnapped Monks. There were simply no major proposals from directors. Then the man decided to work with his hands: first he worked as a furniture maker, then as a roofer. He married and had a son, Yaroslav.

Now the star of “Yeralash” leads a modest life and eschews communication with the press. At the same time, Sergei Shelgunov wanted his heir to try his hand at acting. True, Yaroslav turned out to be even more shy than his father, so he refused to act in films.
