The Barcelona Fire Brigade have given finished this wednesday afternoon propping and prevention tasks in the former headquarters of the newspaper Tele/eXpres burned down this Tuesday. After about ten hours of burning, the fire was finally extinguished yesterday at sunset and immediately the members of the Barcelona emergency department proceeded to ventilate this building located at number 390 Aragó street, on the corner with Roger street de Flor, and prop up its structure to avoid possible landslides.
As Betevé has advanced, the second and third floors -those most affected by the flames and smoke- have been completely inaccessible and have had to be fully propped up. After confirming that the central structure of the building had not suffered considerable damage, the Firefighters have today accompanied the workers of the rest of the floors inside the affected property so that they could recover their belongings and belongings, while they continued the tasks for emergency fixing of unstable elements.
Municipal sources consulted by TOT Barcelona have confirmed that the case is now in the hands of the architect hired by the property, who will determine the works that have to be carried out in order to rehabilitate the damaged office space and, in some cases, unusable.
A fire with sudden
It must be remembered that the fire started early in the morning and could not be controlled until noon. Still, around one noon, the flames returned to revive on the second floor of the building, complicating the tasks of extinction, since the troops did not have a safe space from which to attack the fire. Finally, this space was found and the Firefighters were able to access the interior of the second floor.
At first, the workers on the highest floors had to remain confined and the Firefighters had to evacuate them “with some platforms”, as the same workers explained yesterday at street level. From the City Council they confirm that only Two people had to be transferred by the SEM to a health center, in a mild condition.
