Those who have taken a dip in the starfield of Bethesda’s new sci-fi RPG will surely notice the importance and depth of the storytelling dynamics associated with religions and beliefs in Starfield. In this regard, Emil Pagliarulo from Bethesda told an incredible backstory.
The design director explained that the author of the more “spiritual” aspects of the Microsoft-exclusive space adventure is a true believer who has decided to leave a career in the video game industry for the priesthood.
“These aspects were handled by Shane Liesegang“, Pagliarulo began, and then said that “he was one of our most experienced writers, we’ve worked together since Skyrim and Fallout 4. He no longer works at Bethesda as he’s studying to be a Jesuit priest. Aware of his high spirituality, we relied on him to create Starfield’s fictional religions and develop dialogue.”.
According to Pagliarulo, Liesegang was very important to the Bethesda writers involved in creating fictional religions for the space RPG, so much so that “it was thanks to him that we were able to come up with two religions for Starfield. Above all, we owe him a deep narrative associated with the Sanctum Universum, a creed that sees space travel as a tangible sign of God’s will to bring us closer to it.“.
