Execution of Death Sentences in Saudi Arabia: Details and Rulings

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The Saudi Ministry of Interior announced, on Wednesday, the execution of a death sentence against a citizen who killed another by stabbing him in the back, according to a statement published by the official Saudi Press Agency.

The Ministry of the Interior said in its statement: “Abdullah bin Sahaj bin Shabib Al-Otaibi, a Saudi national, killed Ali bin Aidan bin Moazi Al-Shammari, a Saudi national, by stabbing him in the back with a knife, which led to his death due to a previous dispute between them.”

And she continued: “By the grace of God, the security authorities were able to arrest the aforementioned perpetrator, and the investigation with him resulted in him being accused of committing his crime, and by referring him to the competent court, a document was issued against him stating that what was attributed to him was established, and the ruling was to kill him as retribution, and the ruling was upheld by the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court.” And a royal order was issued to implement what was legally decided, and it was supported by its reference.

And she added: “The death sentence was executed in retribution against the perpetrator / Abdullah bin Sahaj bin Shabib Al-Otaibi – a Saudi national – on Wednesday, 2/21/1445 AH, corresponding to 9/6/2023 AD, in the Eastern Province. Establishing security, achieving justice, and implementing God’s rulings for anyone who transgresses those who are safe or spills their blood, and at the same time warns everyone who dares to do such a thing, that the legal punishment will be his fate.

In a separate statement, the Saudi Ministry of Interior said: “Shtoi Hassan Muhammad Awla, a Yemeni national, killed Ahmed Ali Muhammad Ibrahim, a Yemeni, by stabbing him several times with a knife, then hitting him with a machete, which led to his death.”

And she continued: “By the grace of God, the security authorities were able to arrest the aforementioned perpetrator, and the investigation with him resulted in an accusation against him of committing his crime, and by referring him to the competent court, a document was issued against him proving his guilt in what was attributed to him, and the ruling to kill him as retribution, and the ruling was supported by the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court. And a royal order was issued to implement what was legally decided and supported by its reference.

And she added: “The death sentence was executed in retribution against the offender, Shatoi Hassan Muhammad Awlah – a Yemeni national – on Wednesday, 2/21/1445 AH, corresponding to 9/6/2023 AD, in the Jazan region … and the Ministry of Interior, announcing this to confirm the Kingdom’s keenness to establish security. Achieving justice and implementing God’s rulings for everyone who transgresses those who are safe or sheds their blood, and at the same time warns everyone who tempts himself to do something like that that the legal punishment will be his fate … and God is the Guide to the straight path.
