The passengers and crew of the American company Delta, which was heading from Atlanta, USA, to Barcelona, Spain, have had an unpleasant experience. The Airbus had to return to the launch site because one passenger had such severe digestive problems that it contaminated the deck. The captain assessed the situation as a biohazard and turned the plane around.
“We have a passenger here who has very bad diarrhea. We need to get back to Atlanta.” This was the information that the passengers of the flight from Atlanta, USA to Barcelona received from the crew. At that moment, however, everyone already knew that it would not be possible to complete the transoceanic flight without the intervention of the cleaning crew.
“We have a problem with biofouling. We had a passenger who had diarrhea the entire flight, so they want us to go back to Atlanta,” the pilot informed the plane.
The captain requested an emergency landing at the home airport about two hours after takeoff. “My boyfriend was there. It was really horrible. It was flowing down the aisle and it smelled horrible. The vanilla spray they used for it just made it smell like vanilla shit,” said the passenger’s partner.
Cleaning and other work took the staff more than five hours. Eventually the plane did take off again, but not until the early hours of the next morning. “Me and my wife were on board. It was terrible. The pilots made the right decision to turn it around. The ground staff then ripped out the carpet and a new one was put in,” another passenger described.
American Delta Airlines has been having a lot of bad luck in recent weeks. Less than a week ago, a plane bound for New York had to return to the Prague airport. One of the Boeing’s engines caught fire.
