Würzburg (dpa / lby) – The Würzburg Baskets and center Philipp Hartwich go their separate ways. As the basketball Bundesliga club announced on Wednesday, the contract with the 27-year-old, which ran until the end of this season, was terminated by mutual agreement. Hartwich returns to his former club BG Göttingen within the first division. The center only came to Würzburg last summer. However, after the first four competitive games, he was out for the rest of the season due to a knee injury sustained in training.
“First of all, we are very happy for Philipp that he successfully completed the long rehab after his knee injury a few days ago and is fit again,” said manager Kresimir Loncar. “We would have liked to have kept him in our team, but due to his long-term injury we had to regroup in the center position with Owen Klassen and Max Ugrai in good time before the pre-season.”
